Eric McClure Commissioner eric.mcclure@dof.mo.gov 301 West High Street PO Box 716 Jefferson City, MO 65102 Phone:  (573) 751-3242 Fax:  (573) 751-9192 Consumer Complaints: Citizens with complaints against any institution over which this Division has jurisdiction may contact the Consumer Credit Section by telephone, fax, e-mail, or United States mail.  After confirming that the Division has jurisdiction, a staff person will review the facts in whatever form received and determine if there is an apparent violation of statute or regulation.  At this point, the staff person may ask for a written complaint, either a letter or a completed form, in the interest of having a more formal record of the facts including account numbers, addresses, and telephone numbers. Once the file has been opened, the company against which the complaint has been filed will be contacted, generally by mail but sometimes by telephone or e-mail, and asked for an explanation of the circumstances; as a standard practice, the company is provided a copy of the complaint letter or form and the complainant is copied with our letter.  The communications with the companies do not state a deadline but 30 days are generally allowed for response/resolution. When a response is received, it is reviewed by a staff member and then forwarded to the complainant with an explanatory cover letter. The complainant is, of course, free to comment on the response.
