Why Shoprate.com Is Not A Lead Generating Service

Shoprate.com does not provide specific leads to participating lenders. Never have, never will. We do not compile potential consumer information in a database which is turn around and sold to multiple mortgage companies for a healthy "fee". This is not why Shoprate.com was designed nor is it the business model it is based upon.
One of the largest online mortgage lead providers, ValueClick, Inc., will pay a record $2.9 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that its advertising claims and e-mails were deceptive and violated federal law. Making it the largest settlement in a case based on the CAN-SPAM Act, enacted in 2003.
Shoprate.com is based upon the premise that consumers can make their own financial decisions. Shoprate.com strives to place as much helpful and useful information at the consumers fingertips to help them make an educated and informed decision. Giving consumers accurate and quality controlled rates, mortgage calculators, daily market commentary, historical rate trends and averages, along with useful blogs and stories in the learning center, should give consumers the tools necessary to do the required research in making a wise decision.
We do not want to make the deicsion for the consumers as there are other basic factors which might include location of the company, easy of communication, comfort level, and consumer reviews, etc. which are much more of the very personal nature.
