The latest Google challenger is Cuil.com a search engine that makes the claim of having an index of 120 billion Web pages. What makes Cuil different is the fact that Cuil displays its' search results in columns across the page, instead of links as most search engines currently do, with information and text directly from the website along with a thumbnail from the website.
Cuil looks only at the content of each individual website vs. Google which relies on its PageRank algorithm which includes website links. Cuil, on the onset, appears to wade through all of the spam and site linking problems and attempts to provide consumers with the best, most relevant sites available.
Shoprate.com appears on page one for any Cuil.com search for keywords "mortgage rates", "best mortgage rates", "lowest mortgage rates" amongst other popular search terms showing just how valuable the information on Shoprate.com really is to a consumer looking for a home loan.
